A final-year medical student from another institution may participate in an elective clinical rotation through PSOM, not to exceed 30 days. Students from other countries are enrolled in the elective and are treated as any other PSOM or visiting domestic students. A person who is enrolled in a residency training program at another institution and who has the proper credentials may visit the Hospital for observation and training for a period of not more than 30 days. This is an opportunity for an MD or PhD who holds an academic appointment at their home institution. A Visiting Scholar comes to work on a pre-existing project, using UChicago facilities, generally for 6 months or less; however, visits can last up to one year. EARS are here to receive the equivalent of postdoctoral training and receive a postdoc-like experience to initiate or advance their academic program at their home university, with which UChicago has an MOU. An EARS stay is typically more than 6 months and can be up to 2 years. Minimum compensation of $4000/month is required.
